ArmInfo. This is the time for us to make hard, painful decisions. First President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia expressed a similar opinion.
As he said, we have to sign agreements with both Azerbaijan and Turkey. "No one will like this. But there is one moment when there is no alternative. If we do not sign any agreement, if we do not come to an agreement with the neighbors who "love us very much", we will no longer be able to restore the realities of the last 70 years. We will again have to build a new state stone by stone, work, build this country", the former president said.
At the same time, he stressed that the overwhelming majority of the opposition is of the opinion that with the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan from the post of prime minister, it will be possible to exclude the adoption of painful decisions. <It's naive to think so. "Whoever replaces him will probably have to sign a worse document," he said.
Ter-Petrosyan noted that there are no two neighboring countries in the world that do not have a peace treaty. To the interviewer's remark that this is more of a capitulation agreement than a peace treaty, the former president of the RA agreed, indicating that stronger states in history have gone through something like this. At the same time, he explained that circumstances led to the surrender, including the aggression of the enemy and the mistakes of the authorities.
The former president also noted that if the internal contradictions continue and everyone considers himself the next president of Armenia, the situation will worsen, the state will weaken, and the demands of Turkey and Azerbaijan will increase. <If we continue in the same way, then within six months, we will not have a state>, he said.
