ArmInfo.Real targeted assessments of the situation were voiced at the meeting of the UN Security Council. Artur Hovhannisyan, secretary of the "Civil Contract" faction, stated this during a briefing in the Parliament. Noting that the Armenian side welcomes these statements, he stressed that such achievements are the result of diplomatic work.
<The statements made at the meeting will be the basis for increasing international pressure on Azerbaijan and further diplomatic work. This is our achievement at the moment>, the Civil Contract Secretary said. He emphasized that such an issue was included in the UN Security Council, which had no precedent before. <We should register this as an achievement. Further, everything depends on diplomatic work>, Hovhannisyan noted.
It should be noted that the situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani was discussed on September 14 at closed consultations of the UN Security Council, on September 15 - the discussions were held in an open format.
In an interview with the Public Television, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan noted that the agreement on a ceasefire along the entire length of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border was reached with the participation of the international community.
During the open meeting of the UN Security Council, UN Assistant Secretary-General Miroslav Jenca noted that the UN welcomes the ceasefire agreement reached the day before between Armenia and Azerbaijan after a sharp aggravation of the situation on the border between the two countries on September 12-14, expresses the hope that that it will be respected, and call on the parties to adhere to the 2020 tripartite statement and work towards lasting peace.
