ArmInfo.France calls on Azerbaijan to pull back troops from the borders of Armenia to initial positions. During an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, convened on the basis of Armenia's appeal, Nicolas de Riviere, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations and President of the UN Security Council said, stressing the inviolability of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia.
According to him, France is concerned about military operations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. "They have already led to dozens of victims, several areas in territory of Armenia have been fired at, civilian infrastructures were damaged. This is the heaviest fighting since 2020," he said, stating that the provisions of the tripartite statement signed in November 2020 must be respected. "We are calling on Azerbaijan to pull back troops to initial positions, the territorial integrity of Armenia must be preserved. The parties must discuss demarcation and delimitation issues and prevention of violence," the French Permanent Representative said.
"France will continue to support the achievement of lasting peace in the region," Nicolas de Riviere assured.
