ArmInfo. Yerevan reaffirms its steadfast determination to continue our close, mutually reliable dialogue in all directions and to fully realize the existing potential for the consistent development of cooperation between Armenia and Russia.
This is stated in the statement of the RA MFA on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation.
"Today marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, which to a large extent determined the principles and priorities of our interstate relations. This key document outlined the guidelines for the subsequent advancement of the Armenian-Russian allies for many years to come. We reaffirm our steadfast determination to continue our close, mutually reliable dialogue in all directions and to fully realize the existing potential for the consistent development of cooperation between Armenia and Russia in the spirit of centuries-old brotherhood, trust and mutual respect.
The past period has convincingly demonstrated that the further strengthening of historical ties between Yerevan and Moscow fully meets the vital interests of our peoples, serves the goals of the socio-economic development of the two countries, strengthening stability in the South Caucasus. We are successfully moving forward in a wide range of areas of cooperation, filling it with concrete content, increasing the effectiveness of interaction", the statement says.
"Periodic contacts based on trust between the leadership of Armenia and Russia are of decisive importance for the development of the potential of bilateral relations, which allow not only to solve existing problems, but also to coordinate positions on important regional and international issues. The joint statement of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, adopted during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia to Russia on April 19-20, 2022, confirmed the intention to comprehensively deepen and expand interstate relations on the principles enshrined in 1997 treaty.
In this vein, we are grateful for the special role of Russian peacekeepers aimed at providing conditions for the restoration of a peaceful and dignified life for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenia and Nagorno- Karabakh highly appreciate the effective steps of the Russian side aimed at establishing a comprehensive peace, an environment of trust and prosperity in the South Caucasus region. We are convinced that the path to stability in the region lies through strict adherence to the tripartite statements of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021. We sincerely value friendship with fraternal Russia and are determined to further strengthen the Armenian-Russian alliance for the sake of the prosperity of our countries and peoples", the RA MFA statement reads.
