ArmInfo. The dilapidated St. Sargis Church in Menemen, a district of Izmir Province, Turkey, will be restored and turned into a center of culture, Acting Mayor Aydin Pehlivan reported.
Armenians used the church until 1922. "After receiving the necessary documents we invited tenders. And after the building is restored, it will serve our people as a center of culture and science," he said.
After the church was abandoned, Turks used it as a warehouse and a stable.
