ArmInfo. Armenia's Investigative Committee has no information on a terrorist act at Yerevan's Surmalu shopping center, Head of the Committee Argishti Kyaramyan said at a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.
"Various legal assumptions are being considered, but no data is now available that would be evidence of a terrorist act or another deliberate crime," he said.
Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan said that the CCTV data prove careless criminal actions and rule out "any logic of a terrorist act."
The premier said that after the Beirut explosion in 2020, he ordered the relevant agencies to conduct inspections to prevent a similar situation in Armenia. Last spring the inspectors revealed a number of breaches of safety rules.
An explosion at Yerevan's Surmalu market on August 14 claimed 16 lives, leaving 62 injured.
