ArmInfo.Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghanjanyan, does not consider that the statements of Turkish officials regarding the so-called "Zangezur corridor" are a precondition for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey.
He said this today at a joint press conference with Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) David McAllister.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu said that Armenia should demonstrate its desire for peace by taking concrete steps on the "Zangezur project" and concluding a comprehensive peace treaty with Azerbaijan. In addition, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Mustafa Sentop, during the second tripartite meeting of the chairmen of the parliaments of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Pakistan in Istanbul, also noted that "the opening of the Zangezur corridor will create new opportunities for Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan", stressing that justice, as in the case of Karabakh war, will find its place in the issue of Jammu and Kashmir as well.
As the Armenian parliamentarian noted, Turkey constantly takes a similar position, which has never been acceptable for the Armenian side. The Armenian side has always said that there are differences between Ankara's statements and actions. "Our task is to eliminate such a difference or minimize it," Aghajanyan said, stressing that such a precondition is unacceptable for Yerevan.
