ArmInfo.Team Telecom Armenia, the leading telecommunication company announces cooperation with the STARMUS international festival in order to promote science, technology and art in Armenia.
According to the press service of the company, this year the festival will be held under the title STARMUS VI. 50 years on Mars, and will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the first landing of the Mars-3 space station on Mars. It is noteworthy that the first Mars rover in the world called "PROP-M" was designed and worked out by a team of 150 engineers led by world-famous Armenian engineer Alexander Kemurjyan.
According to CEO of the Team Telecom Armenia Hayk Yesayan, by supporting the festival, the company supports the popularization of science in Armenia and inspires young people to take more active and bold steps. "I hope that this festival will become one of the symbolic events of the revival of science in independent Armenia, restoring the existing reputation in the field of astronomy in the future," he said. In turn, co-founder of the STARMUS festival Garik Israelyan noted: "I welcome Team Telecom Armenia within the framework of our festival, and as an Armenian, I am glad to have among the international partners the first Armenian company that joined the festival as one of the main partners, thereby attaching importance popularization of science in Armenia>. According to the source, about five dozen world famous scientists, Nobel Prize winners, engineers and astronauts, world stars of music and art will take part in the events of the festival in Armenia. The festival program (starmus.com/Armenia) includes congresses and conferences, multidisciplinary cultural events, scientific camps that will present science, art and music to the public in a unique way, including outside of Yerevan.
The STARMUS festival was founded by astrophysicist Garik Israelyan and guitarist of the legendary rock band Queen, astrophysicist Brian May in 2011, and was held in Spain, Norway, Switzerland. This year the festival will be held in Armenia from September 5-10. Armenia will host world famous astronauts Charles Bolden, Chris Hadfield, James Bagian, George Nield , Charles Duke, Nobel Prize winner Edvard Moser, Kip Thorne, Emmanuelle Charpentier; scientists: Tony Fadell, Brian Greene, Donna Strickland ; artists: Sons of Apollo an American progressive metal supergroup, Rick Wakeman, Serj Tankian, Tigran Hamasyan, Andrey Makarevich, Derek Sherinyan and a number of other world famous artists and scientists.
