ArmInfo. Over 200 years ago the French people opened a new way to a democratic future and human rights protection, and the great universal values of the Great French Revolution have since been the guideline for many countries," Armenia's Vice-Premier Mher Grigoryan stated at an event on the occasion of the National Holiday of France at the French Embassy in Yerevan.
The Armenian-French friendship has a centuries-old history.
"The Armenian and French peoples were with each other throughout the crucial and trying periods of their history. We will never forget that France extended a fraternal hand to teens of thousands of Armenian Genocide survivors for whom France proved to be a country of adoption. Our nations' friendship served as a solid basis for our high-level political dialogue as well as for our effective cooperation in all the major fields," Mr Grigoryan said.
On behalf of the Armenian people he thanked France for its constant attention and seeking to protect the vital interests and fundamental rights of Armenia and its people.
In this context, Mr Grigoryan highlighted the importance of France's involvement in a final settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship. He thanked France for its humanitarian aid during the 44-day war in Artsakh.
Mr Grigoryan pointed out efforts to develop the bilateral economic cooperation, and the 2021-2026 roadmap for economic cooperation will facilitate the process.
He also pointed out the bilateral economic cooperation. A French University of Armenia is working in Yerevan, and a TUMO Center was recently opened in Lyons.
Moreover, Armenia, as an Eastern Partnership member, highly appreciates France's assistance in expanding cooperation with the EU.
