Edvard Asryan appointed Chief of General Staff of Armenian Armed  Forces

ArmInfo. Edvard Asryan has been appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces. RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan signed the corresponding decree.

According to the press service of the head of state, Asryan has been  appointed for a five-year term.  Last year, Edward Asryan was  appointed Chief of the Operational Department of the General Staff of  the Armed Forces - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian  Armed Forces.

According to the recent amendments to the law "On military service  and the status of a serviceman", the head of the General Staff  automatically becomes the first deputy minister of defense, without  the right to replace the head of the department in his absence.
