ArmInfo.Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan nominated Hovakim Hovakimian for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court. The decree on nomination was signed on June 30, the press service of the head of state reported.
It should be noted that if elected, Hovakim Hovakimyan will replace judge Ashot Khachatryan in the CC, whose term of office expires in December of this year. Currently, he heads the legal department of the President's Office. It should be reminded at the government meeting yesterday, it was decided to nominate Seda Safaryan to the post of judge of the Constitutional Court, who, being a lawyer, represented the interests of the victims in the March 1, 2008 case. If elected, Seda Safaryan will replace Judge Arevik Petrosyan in the Constitutional Court, whose term also expires in December 2022. It is expected that the National Assembly will consider the candidates for judges of the Constitutional Court on an extraordinary basis. The Constitutional Court of Armenia consists of 9 judges, three of whom are represented by the government, three by the president and three by the General Assembly of Judges This is the order in which candidates are presented.
