ArmInfo.On June 30, a court session will be held, at which the issue of changing the preventive measure against former Prosecutor General of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan will be considered. Lawyer Erik Aleksanyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"We have just been informed that on June 30, 2022, at 12:00pm, an emergency court session has been scheduled to consider the petition to change the preventive measure imposed against Aghvan Hovsepyan," the lawyer wrote.
He also presented a statement by the group of lawyers of the former Prosecutor General, in which it is noted that Aghvan Hovsepyan is in the clinic of the Institute of Surgery after A.S. Mikayelyan, where he was diagnosed with diseases that are incompatible with the measure of restraint applied to him in the form of arrest. Based on the foregoing, the defense filed a motion to the court to hold an urgent court session to review the issue of changing the preventive measure against Aghvan Hovsepyan.
The former prosecutor general was arrested in September 2021. The investigating authorities accuse him of illegal business activities. As the Prosecutor General in 2004-2013, as well as the head of the Investigative Committee in 2014-2018, he actually participated in the management of a number of companies engaged in entrepreneurial activities. In addition, according to investigators, Hovsepyan received a bribe on an especially large scale (190 million drams), and also committed theft of property in the amount of 800 million drams. Hovsepyan was also charged with money laundering in the amount of about 1.3 billion drams.
