ArmInfo. As part of a new package of sanctions for the invasion of Ukraine, the United States will introduce export control measures against companies from third countries that are involved in the substitution of products prohibited from deliveries to the Russian Federation. This became known from diplomatic circles, referring to the preparation by Washington of a new package of anti-Russian sanctions, in which for the first time the White House will try to limit the ability of third countries to "help" Russia.
The White House has already said today that these third countries will not be allowed to buy American goods, primarily semiconductors. In addition, the US Department of Treasury will impose blocking sanctions on individuals who help Russia circumvent the sanctions regime.
It is noted that the Biden administration is clearly alluding to China, from which the Kremlin expects support for the Russian economy and, above all, the supply of technology to replace Western ones.
The new sanctions package aims to deprive the Russian military-industrial complex of access to "critical components" and further isolate Russia from the global economy, the White House warns.
A few dozen more defense enterprises will fall under blocking sanctions - any transactions and dollar settlements with them will be prohibited. This will "limit Russia's ability to replenish stockpiles of weapons", which have already been lost during the war in Ukraine, the White House said in a release.
In addition, the United States will impose duties on 570 Russian-made goods worth $2.7 billion a year, and will work with G7 states to ban imports of Russian gold, the second largest export commodity in terms of revenue, from which the economy earned $17 billion last year.
In addition, it is planned to expand the black list of individuals subject to visa bans and blocking of all assets in the United States. About 500 officials who are responsible for threatening or violating the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine will fall under personal sanctions, the White House reports.
