ArmInfo. The son of former President of Armenia, British citizen Armen Sarkissian, was going to buy the Russian assets of McDonald's, which left Russia due to a special operation in Ukraine.
According to forbes.ru, Sarkissian's son was among those applicants who were consulted in April by the American owners of this global restaurant business. Three sources familiar with the negotiations told Forbes that the US owners held six independent interviews. "On May 2, the president of an American corporation flew to Dubai and personally interviewed four candidates for the purchase," the source said.
Among the applicants, in addition to the son of Sarkissian, were restaurateurs Arkady Novikov and Anton Pinsky, franchise partners of McDonald's in Russia Rostislav Ordovsky-Tanaevsky Blanco and Kairat Boranbaev, investor and founder of Kismet Capital Group Ivan Tavrin.
However, on May 19, McDonald's announced the sale of Russian assets to the former co-owner of the Yuzhkuzbassugol coal company from Novokuznetsk, Alexander Govor, who ran a franchise of 25 McDonald's restaurants in Siberia. Now the McDonald's restaurant chain is restoring its work under the new Russian brand "Vkusno - and that's it".
It should be noted that according to Russian media, son of the former President of Armenia Vardan Sarkissian is a member of the directors of the Marr Russia company, engaged in the supply of products for the catering market. The company's website says that MARR is not just a distributor, but also the largest producer and supplier of semi-finished meat for restaurants. The company also regularly participates in charity events of the Ronald McDonald Charitable Foundation, the Italian Embassy in Russia, etc.
