ArmInfo.Maria Zakharova, Spokesperson of the Russian foreign office, doubts the sincerity of Karen Donfried, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, about her statement on the U.S. interest in the OSCE Minsk Group's further activities and readiness for cooperating with Russia.
"I would doubt the sincerity of Karen Donfried's words. If Washington and Paris really regarded as important the CSTO Minsk Group co-chairs' unique mediation format, they would not have disregarded the mandate approved by all the member-states. But they publicly and without any consultations broke off all the contacts with the Russian co-chair on February 24," Ms Zakharova said as she commented on Karen Donfried's statement that Washington remains committed to the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
Russia will continue doing its best to ensure the implementation of the trilateral agreements reached by the Russian, Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders.
"Russia as no one else is interested in normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and cannot allow some foreign actors' politically motivated steps to undermine the really hard efforts to establish peace and stability in the region," Ms Zakharova said.
