ArmInfo. The emergence of the so-called third force in the political arena of Armenia is something from the fiction genre. And I have both foreign policy and domestic political reasons for such a disappointing forecast Conservative Party Chairman Mikayel Hayrapetyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"Against the background of the impossibility to choose between the current ruling party and various shades of the "former authorities"for a certain part of the Armenian society, the only alternative, in theory, to these forces is a third force. Which, again in theory, should be radically different from the existing two political poles, for example, the presence of an ideology and a different foreign policy orientation. Hence, there is a quite tangible demand from society for a third force," he noted.
Among the foreign policy factors that negatively affect the prospects for the formation of a full-fledged political field in Armenia, the politician singled out the position of the Russian Federation. In his opinion, at present Moscow is not so weakened in the South Caucasus because of Ukraine, which makes it possible to have such hopes. Excluding such a scenario, Hayrapetyan noted that the sudden emergence of a third force in Armenia, no doubt, will be coordinated by Moscow, as in the case of its emergence in the spring of 2018.
Among the internal reasons preventing the emergence of a political alternative to the current and former ones, the politician singled out the current way of thinking of the vast majority of the Armenian society. According to which, the most important thing in this life is the daily bread, and there is nothing more important in the world and in life.
"The fact that there are more important values than bread is clear. It is not clear who should convey this to the masses? We may have other values, but we cannot convey this to our society. I am talking about myself now. The problem is that in as a result of voluntary or involuntary coordination of external and internal factors, the path towards a change of values, respectively, everything else is closed for us. Just look who is sitting in our government and parliament as of today," Hayrapetyan summed up.
