ArmInfo. Over the past months, the resistance movement has achieved significant results. Ishkhan Saghatelyan, coordinator of the Resistance Movement, Vice-speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, stated this at a briefing on Thursday.
According to him, as a result of the actions of the opposition, the issue of the security of Artsakh and Armenia has become a priority for the entire Armenian public. It also became obvious that the citizens of Armenia would no longer put up with the situation that has developed in the country; the people clearly stated that the current government does not have a mandate to move the country towards new concessions. "The Armenian people have clearly made it clear to the international community that they reject the policy pursued by the current authorities," the MP said, adding that the set goal aimed at awakening the people has been achieved.
In this regard, as Saghatelyan emphasized, the further maintenance of the tent camp on France Square is inexpedient. According to him, staying in it in 30-40-degree heat, the resource of the opposition is spent. Hundreds of people can be left there, but according to the vice-speaker, the tent camp should become a hotbed of confrontation, but not an end in itself. At the moment, he continued, the process of modernization of the movement is underway and there can be no talk of its failure. "Step by step, step by step, we will achieve a change of power," the MP stressed, adding that talk about refusing to continue the struggle is just talk. "We just took a timeout to expand our movement," the MP stressed.
As Saghatelyan noted, 1.5 years ago, having come to power, current Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the opening of an era of peace, and yesterday, in parliament he stated that there were no guarantees on the formation of this agenda, just as there are no guarantees that Artsakh will not be part of Azerbaijan. "He only talked about ensuring the security of the inhabitants of Artsakh, but there is hardly a sane person who believes in the possibility of preserving the Armenian population of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. Based on all this, the opposition will change its strategy of fighting the current government", the MP said.
Saghatelyan also considered it senseless for the opposition MPs to return to the parliament on the agenda put forward by the ruling power. "If there is our agenda, we will go; if not, we will abstain," the Vice- Speaker emphasized.
