ArmInfo.On June 9, RA Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan received a delegation on a regional visit to Armenia headed by US Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, Kara C. McDonald.
According to the press service of the RA Foreign Ministry, the high level of the current Armenian- American strategic dialogue in the field of democracy and protection of human rights was stressed with satisfaction at the meeting, and the importance of its consistent expansion was mutually noted.
The Deputy Minister addressed democratic reforms, achievements in the field of human rights protection and other topical issues.
The representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry touched upon the humanitarian problems that have arisen as a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh. In particular, the importance of the immediate return of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians illegally held in Azerbaijan, the urgent need to protect the Armenian cultural and religious heritage, which is constantly being vandalized in Artsakh, was emphasized.
The parties noted the importance of further development of the Armenian-American dialogue in the field of protecting human rights and strengthening democracy on the bilateral and multilateral platforms.
