ArmInfo.Starting from the 2022-2023 academic year, graduates of military universities assigned to officer service in the Armenian Armed Forces will receive apartments from the state. On June 2, the government approved the draft amendments to the law "On military service and the status of a serviceman."
As Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan noted, presenting the draft decision, a cadet who entered a military educational institution after July 1, 2022, after graduation, will be provided with a service apartment with the right to use it free of charge. After 20 years of military service and retirement before the expiration of the contract due to being declared unfit for military service for health reasons and military disability, the officer will receive an apartment in the property. In the event of his death in the line of duty, the apartment will be transferred to the property of his family members free of charge.
According to the Minister of Defense, the procedure and conditions for providing apartments with the right to free use will be determined by a government decision.
RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in turn, noted that an officer admitted to the university will immediately receive an apartment and he will be able to use it at his own discretion. "He can live in this apartment, rent it out, but without the right of alienation," Pashinyan said. At the same time, as the prime minister pointed out, admission to military universities will be slightly simplified, but study will become more difficult for the cadet to attend the university, and not just to get an apartment.
