ArmInfo.No snap parliamentary elections are planned in Armenia over the protest rallies and the present domestic political situation, RIA Novosti reports referring to Armenia's Vice-Premier Mher Grigoryan.
"The 2021 parliamentary elections in Armenia answered all the questions raised by the protesters. And various scenarios, including ones implying new elections, do not need to be considered," he said. Last year's elections were absolutely democratic, free and legal, Mr Grigoryan added.
The snap parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 20, 2021, with 21 parties and four political blocs participating. The Civil Contract party led by Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan won the elections by receiving 688,761 votes (53.91%), followed by the Armenia bloc led by the ex-president Robert Kocharyan (269,481 votes or 21.9%). The With Honor bloc led by the ex-president Serzh Sargsyan received 66,650 votes (5.22%). The voter turnout was 49.39% (1,281,997 of the 2,595,512 officially registered voters).
