ArmInfo.Yerevan public park will be replenished with 87 new buses. The Georgian "Tegeta Motors" company became the winner of the announced international tender.
As the press service of the capital's municipality reports, an official ceremony of signing a contract for the purchase of new MAN brand buses was held at the Yerevan Municipality. The document was signed by Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan and Strategic Business Director of Tegeta Holding Irakli Papiashvili.
The report notes that this project, supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), is an important step towards reforming the transport system in Yerevan.
12-meter buses complying with Euro-6 environmental standards, running on compressed natural gas, are designed for 94 passengers, have a modern design, are safe, fully adapted for people with disabilities, and are equipped with the latest technology.
The Mayor of Yerevan thanked the Eastern European Energy Efficiency Partnership Foundation, all investors, especially the largest investors of the EU fund and Sweden, as well as the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the team involved in the implementation of the project, for their assistance.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development finances the project with a EUR 20 million sovereign loan and Eastern Europe Fund for Energy Conservation and Environmental Partnership (E5P) with a EUR 5 million grant.
"We have started joint work in the field of energy efficiency; Renovation of kindergartens, garbage disposal, which will make Yerevan greener. We are already taking steps to purchase green buses, we have really good partnerships, they are ongoing, we have many more plans," said Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin.
The first stage of the transfer of buses will begin at the end of 2022 and will be implemented in several stages during 2022-2023.
