ArmInfo.he rally of the Resistance movement has started in Freedom Square. Coordinator of the Resistance Movement, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ishkhan Saghatelyan called on the citizens to march through the central streets of the capital and return to France Square.
"We have already said that the city must be constantly paralyzed. Now we will march along the central streets and return to the square again. We will start the procession along Mashtots Avenue," Saghatelyan said.
He also said during his speech that today from 08:30 for 4 hours the whole city was paralyzed, more than 30 streets were blocked.
"According to the official data of the RA Police, 244 demonstrators were detainedt, but in fact more than 300. Now 99% of them have already been released and are here, on this square with us," Saghatelyan said. At the same time, according to the ARF member, this movement, despite various difficulties, weather conditions, and police actions, will win.
"We will go to the bitter end! Nikol has one support here - the police, which today have crossed all the boundaries of what is permitted," he said.
The MP recalled that Sargis Hovhannisyan, the head of the State Guard Service of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, used brute force against the media and citizens today, and noted that the latter should be punished for these actions. He also drew attention to the fact that the oligarchs are helping the current regime in every possible way, and in this vein he said that, according to the information received, a supporter of Grzo (MP Khachatur Sukiasyan, ed. note) today beat a peaceful demonstrator in front of the police, however, the beaten protester was detained and not the attacker. Saghatelyan also called on the Armenian Human rights Defender to fulfill her direct functions of protecting the rights of citizens, and not the current authorities of the Republic of Armenia, headed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
The opposition MP also called on the international community, human rights organizations, foreign missions in Yerevan to respond to the arbitrariness taking place in the country, disproportionate force used by law enforcement officers. According to him, the silence of international bodies encourages the violence that is used by law enforcement officers against participants in peaceful protests.
It should be noted that at the moment, participants in a peaceful rally demanding the resignation of the current prime minister and his team are marching along Mashtots Avenue. They are chanting "Nicol is a traitor!", "Armenia without Turks!".
