ArmInfo. The Resistance Movement has launched large-scale actions of disobedience in Yerevan. The activists are blocking streets, chanting "Armenia without Nikol!", "Armenia without Turks!", "Join us!", "Nikol, traitor!"
Movement coordinator, Armenian Parliament Vice-Speaker Ishkhan Saghatelyan, stated this morning that over ten streets have been blocked. He called on citizens to join the action for Armenia to overcome the crisis the incumbent authorities have led it to.
On May 1, at a rally in France Square in Yerevan, Mr Saghatelyan stated that the "square belongs to the people, and it is the people that are power in Armenia from now on."
"We are going to spend this day in this square and we are going to put up tents to spend the night here. Tomorrow, at 8:30am, we are going to start large-scale actions of disobedience, we are launching the process of removing [the incumbent authorities] from power. It is not seizing power, but the dignified citizens' constitutional right to remove the vassals of Turkey from power for Armenia, Artsakh and the Armenian people," Mr Saghatelyan said.
He promised the blocking of many streets in Yerevan.
"I am apologizing to the citizens for inconveniences. It is a matter of day during which we are going to suffer and be detained by the police. But it will not last long. After that Armenia will see solidarity, freedom and justice reigning," Mr Saghatelyan said.
Armenia's second and third presidents, Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, arrived at the square as well.
About 10,000 people attended the rally, the opposition is demanding the premier's resignation.
