ArmInfo. I hope that an agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia will be reached on the basis of the principles presented by President Ilham Aliyev. This was stated by advisor to the Prime Minister of Romania Julian Cifu at the international forum "South Caucasus: Development and Cooperation" in Shushi.
He stressed the importance of reaching an agreement on the delimitation of the borders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. "I hope that steps in this direction may be taken on the basis of 5-clause proposal, presented by Ilham Aliyev. The second point is the delimitation of borders, which is a technical part. It is very important. Truly, you can do both of these. But there should first be an agreement. If you can realize an agreement, which confirms independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and respect principles of countries, I think, the delimitation, which is a technical part, can be done. These are very significant steps forward. But I would recommend that you first turn to the economic side of the issue. Because if you can integrate Armenia with Azerbaijan and Turkiye from an economic point of view, than Azerbaijan will have great additional opportunities," the Romanian official said, APA reports.
It should be noted that on March 14, the Armenian Foreign Ministry issued a statement, in which, in particular, it stated that " The Republic of Armenia responded to the proposals of the Republic of Azerbaijan and applied to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship to organize negotiations on the signing of peace agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of the UN Charter, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Helsinki Final Act."
After this statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry published proposals of 5 points sent to Yerevan. This, in particular, refers to the following proposals: "Mutual recognition by states of sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of state borders and political independence of each other; mutual confirmation by states of the absence of territorial claims against each other and their acceptance of a legal obligation not to make such claims in the future; refrain from threatening each other's security in international relations, using threats and force against political independence and territorial integrity, as well as other circumstances that do not correspond to the purposes of the UN Charter; delimitation and demarcation of the state border, establishment of diplomatic relations; opening transport links and communications, establishing other relevant communications and cooperation in other areas of mutual interest".
The opposition criticized these actions of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, recalling that the OSCE Minsk Group does not have a mandate to negotiate the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani bilateral relations.
