ArmInfo. Armenian teachers' monthly salary may be raised up to AMD 400,000 ($860) from May 1, 2022, RA Minister of Education, Science, Sport and Culture Vahram Dumanyan stated at a Cabinet meeting on April 28.
He reminded the Cabinet of the voluntary certification program for teachers launched last year. About 1,000 teachers participated in the programs and, depending on the scores obtained, 478 of them had their salaries raised 30 to 50 percent. However, even after being raised to AMD 125,000, teachers' monthly salaries remain low, the minister said.
At present, the government plans to double teachers' salaries, up to AMD 200,000 ($430). So, on May 1, school teachers' monthly salaries could reach AMD 300,000. In case a teacher is certified, his or her monthly salary could reach AMD 400,000 ($860).
Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan stressed that incompetence is the cause of problems in many fields. He called on teachers to get certified and stated that uncertified teachers cannot continue working.
