ArmInfo. From year to year, the health care system of Armenia improves its position in terms of key indicators, but in terms of funds allocated from the state budget, Armenia's indicators are still lower than those of its neighbors in the region.
Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan noted this during the briefing with journalists, commenting on the results of the World Health Organization Index, in which Armenia was not included in the first hundred countries.
According to the head of the Ministry of Health, the share of budget allocations in the country's GDP is only about 1.5%. <We are constantly working to improve these indicators. And from 81 billion drams within 4 years they rose to 114 billion drams. Considering the difficulties in our country in recent years, these are big changes>, the minister said.
According to Avanesyan, of course, such volumes of financing for the sector will not allow them to occupy favorable positions in the ratings. However, this does not deprive of optimism, and the head of the Ministry of Health expressed the opinion that the development of the healthcare system through the implementation of reforms to introduce universal medical insurance will improve the situation and increase the country's index in such ratings.
