ArmInfo. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called "bewildering" the fact that Russian peacekeepers did not allow a group of Armenian MPs to enter Nagorno-Karabakh.
"That action is in conflict with the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, which unimpeded connection of Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia through the Lachin corridor. And the corridor is intended for this. And I would like to note that no inspection of documents is supposed, especially in the case of MPs," the premier said.
A group of opposition Armenian MPs headed by Parliament Vic-Speaker Ishkhan Saghatelyan were not allowed to visit Artsakh and meet with Artsakh MPs.
According to Mr Saghatelyan, the decision was a result of an agreement between the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders.
"One more criminal agreement between Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev. Both promptly responded to the opposition MPs' statement on their planned visit to Artsakh, reported the names to the checkpoint and demanded that they not be allowed to enter the country. Interestingly, the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities gave identical and complementary responses to our visit," Mr Saghatelyan said.
The RA foreign office has issued a statement expressing its concern over the fact that "the servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh did not allow a group of deputies of the National Assembly of Armenia to enter Nagorno-Karabakh.
"This action contradicts the Trilateral Statement of November 9, which envisages the unimpeded connection of Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia through the Lachin corridor. All parties to the Statement must strictly adhere to the latter's letter and spirit, as well as fulfill its obligations."
