ArmInfo. Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan declined to answer the question whether he considers Artsakh to be part of the integrity of Azerbaijan.
Thus, on April 11, during a press conference on Facebook on the air of Azatutyun TV, to the user's request to give a short answer "yes or no" to the question of whether he considers Artsakh to be part of the integrity of Azerbaijan, Simonyan stated that he had no right to answer this question, since Armenia is negotiating and entering the negotiation process.
"The position of the speaker of the parliament of a country with parliamentary rule in such a specific formulation of the issue and the conduct of negotiations can affect the content of the negotiations. And if the questioner is not satisfied with my answer, heshe can follow our actions. No government has done as much for Artsakh as the "Civil Contract" after coming to power, this is a fact. If they show me that any government has done more for Artsakh, I will say: " very good," said Simonyan, forgetting that it was under the rule of the "Civil Contrac" that Artsakh lost 75% of its territories, and every day the population of Nagorno-Karabakh faces Azerbaijani terror.
At the same time, referring to the 5 points put forward by Azerbaijan to Armenia under the peace agreement, Simonyan stated that the Republic of Armenia has never presented territorial claims to Azerbaijan. "We have always said that this is a question of the people of Artsakh, the right of Artsakh to self-determination, we did not put forward territorial claims," Alen Simonyan.
At the same time, he added that many details about these 5 proposals and the situation in Artsakh and around Armenia will become known within the next 2-3 days.
As for another question, why the current authorities do not use the form of names of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh or the Republic of Artsakh, the speaker of the parliament said that this is due to the fact that at this stage of the negotiations he does not consider it appropriate.
To clarify why they (the current authorities of the RA - ed.) do not visit Artsakh, for example, to get acquainted with the problems on the spot, is it possible that they do not do this in order to avoid a harsh reaction from Azerbaijani President Aliyev?, Simonyan stated: "what will Aliyev do with me, for example, if I go there? He can't do anything. I am not going there so that this does not become a cause of provocations... If I go, nothing will happen to me, I will go and return. But if I go, and the Azerbaijanis use this as a pretext for shelling our villagers, our citizens, why do this? I think this is wrong. There are negotiations. I must not give the other side a chance to fire even once."
It should be noted that after the 44-day military aggression of Azerbaijan against Artsakh, neither the President of Armenia, nor the Prime Minister, nor the Speaker of the Parliament, have ever visited Nagorno-Karabakh.
It is noteworthy that before this aggression, the Prime Minister of Armenia, together with his wife, visited Nagorno-Karabakh almost every week. And it was from the capital of the NKR, Stepanakert, that he made his scandalous statement "Artsakh is Armenia, and that's final!"
