ArmInfo. The RA Court of Cassation has overturned a verdict of guilty passed on Nikol Pashinyan in the March 1 case.
This February, RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan appealed against the verdict of guilty passed on Mr Pashinyan in 2010. Nikol Pashinyan was found guilty in the "March 1, 2008" case. Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan found him guilty of "organizing mass riots" and sentenced him to 7-year imprisonment. Mr Pashinyan was also charged with "violence against a public agent", but was acquitted. Later, the court reduced the sentence and Mr Pashinyan was released in May 2011 under the amnesty declared on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence. In 2022, on the Pashinyan v Armenia case, the ECHR has ruled that Armenia violated Articles 11 and 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
