ArmInfo.Russia is trying to break the sanctions imposed on it by means of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Ukrainian Charge d'Affaires in Armenia Denis Avtonomov told reporters in Yerevan, on Thursday.
To substantiate his words, he mentioned Russia's proposal for raising the amount of free imports of commodities by carriers or as post parcels up to EUR 1,000. The obvious goal of this step is to ensure consumers' further access to imported goods, spare parts, etc.., as Russia is already facing a deficit.
"Why is it being done in public? I have some speculations," Mr Avtonomov said.
Asked about the reasons, he said that Russia's attempts to break the sanctions by means of the EAEU member-states will inevitably make the states imposing sanctions on Russia increase their pressure on Russia's allies.
On March 18, the Eurasian Economic Commission Council decided to temporarily raise the amount of free import of commodities by individuals to the amount of EUR 1,000, until October 1, 2022. "This measure is aimed at supporting citizens ordering goods for personal use by means of online shops and preventing a deficit," the official report reads.
On March 23, the RA State Revenue Committee reported that, unlike the other EAEU member- states, from March 31, 2022, Armenia will not raise the amount of duty-free online purchases from the current EUR 200 to EUR 1,000.
