ArmInfo.Amid the mounting Russia-West confrontation, the fifth column serving the interests of NATO and of Turkey has intensified its activities in Armenia, stated Eduard Sharmazanov, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
In this context, he notes that the "fifth columnists" are attacking Armenian-Russian cooperation.
"Moreover, disregarding the security interests of Armenia and Artsakh, they have organized a new wave of anti-Russian statements. These persons 'missing the Turks' are dreaming of Russia's defeat, which will turn Armenia into a Turkish-Azerbaijani vilayet," Mr Sharmazanov said.
According to him, both in 1920 and in 2020 Russia prevented "complete Turkification of our Homeland."
On the other hand, both 100 years ago and nowadays the West could not and did not want to stop Turkish intervention.
"Stop, like a wolf in sheep's clothing, playing foul Turkish-NATO games to cause trouble to Armenia and to the Armenian people. These people are severely critical of the 'former ones' and Russia, without saying a single word against the defeatist or against the Turkish-Azerbaijani leaders.
"There is no alternative to the Armenian-Russian alliance. And those against it are proponents of the Turkish vilayet. It is time to understand that Turkey is a NATO member, and the West and Turkey are allies," Mr Sharmazanov said.
Turkey, a NATO member, with tacit consent of the international community and its western partners, was actively involved in Azerbaijan's aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh in autumn 2020.
