ArmInfo. On March 19, Lila Pieters Yahia, the Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, was invited to the Foreign Ministry of Armenia.
During the meeting, the Acting UN Resident Coordinator was informed that the Foreign Ministry of Armenia strongly condemns the involvement of the UN Office in Azerbaijan in the event organised in Shushi on March 18 and, in this regard, the note of protest was presented by the Foreign Ministry of Armenia.
The Foreign Ministry demanded that the United Nations take steps to restore the neutral position of the UN in the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
In his turn, Artsakh State Minister Artak Beglaryan made the following statement:
"Visit of UN representatives to occupied Shushi and participation in Azerbaijani provocation are to be condemned even more.
"And the extremely humanistic and value-based officials of the UN carry out this provocation in the following conditions: No UN official has visited Artsakh to record war and post-war sufferings and Azerbaijani atrocities and to prevent them; 40,000 deportees, of which 5,000 from Shushi are deprived of their homes and many other rights, and the UN continues the Azerbaijani policy of isolating Artsakh; On the same days, the only gas pipeline in Artsakh was damaged in the same Shushi, and the Azerbaijani side deliberately delayed the restoration, causing additional suffering to 100,000 people, and the UN was silent; Are these your values or caviar and petrodollars?"
