ArmInfo.The South Caucasus Railway CJSC plans to allocate a total AMD 2.665bln (over $5,470,000) to the infrastructure maintenance and development programmes, which will improve the railway traffic safety.
Specifically, a total of AMD 2.4bln will be invested in track facilities, AMD 200mln in the power supply infrastructure, AMD 60mln in teleautomatics and communication.
The company plans capital repair of an 8-km-long section of the track, with replacement of 17,500 concrete ties and nearly 5,000 timber ties. The company plans other measures to improve railway traffic safety.
CEO Alexey Melnikov stated that upgrading track facilities is one of the company's priorities improving railway traffic safety.
"We must implement all the plans on schedule. We are talking about railway traffic safety and confidence of passengers and our partners," he said.
