ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a telephone conversation with newly appointed Minister of State for Europe and North America of the UK Foreign Office James Cleverley congratulated the latter on his appointment, wishing him success in his branch mission.
During the conversation, the interlocutors touched upon the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Yerevan and London, noting that a lot of work has been done in the development of bilateral relations during the specified period.
The parties stressed their readiness to strengthen and expand cooperation based on common values and mutual trust.
The importance of democratic processes in Armenia was pointed out and the support of the United Kingdom was noted in this context. During the conversation, issues related to regional stability and security were touched upon. Mirzoyan spoke about the situation that developed as a result of the 44-day war, as well as due to the invasion of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
Touching upon fundamental issues that require immediate solutions, the Armenian Foreign Minister stressed that Azerbaijan continues to hold 38 Armenian prisoners of war and civilians hostage, and the fate of hundreds of missing people, including a dozen forcibly disappeared, remains unknown. Issues on the international agenda were also discussed.
