ArmInfo.here is no nor will there be a unipolar world any longer, Evgeny Satanovsky, a Russian expert in the Middle East, stated as he commented on the Wednesday vote on Ukraine at the UN General Assembly.
"The UN General Assembly held a vote on the situation in Ukraine. Predictably, it was in the USA's favor, as it is the USA that is de facto ordering it [the UN] about in general similarly to what it is doing with Micronesia or Puerto Rico. Some are in fear of economic sanctions, others have all the reasons to show their unswerving loyalty to the USA because they are dependent, like Israel, which failed to abstain from denouncing Russia this time. Otherwise, it would not get over it later. Still others are so strongly linked to the USA that they have to obey the U.S. policy even against their own interests. Each one has its own reasons," the expert said.
As regards the "neutrals," Mr Satanovsky said: "Among them are China and India, which is extremely important. (And we should realize it is not Russia they are supporting. Rather they are defending their own interests, which are in conflict with the West's now). Iran, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan - it can be explained. But Pakistan, a nuclear country and Washington's traditional ally, is a surprise. It shows that its relations with the USA are much cooler now than it was expected. No questions about abstained Iran, Vietnam, Mongolia, Algeria, Angola, and Mozambique. On the other hand, Iraq, Senegal, Sri Lanka, and South Africa are extremely interesting cases," the expert said.
Of importance is the fact that there will not be a unipolar world any longer. "With China not yet playing its own Great Game and allowing Russia to 'break' as many western barriers as possible with its own head. However, it is an extremely interesting fact that it has been joined by India and by a number of other important regional actors in economic and military terms. By the way, no media reports on 13 members, including Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Ethiopia, Venezuela, and Morocco, which did not participate in the vote, which is quite good for Russia. So Georgia, Moldova and the Baltic States are the only post-Soviet countries that dared to play dirty diplomatic tricks on Russia. Well, we understand. We can deal with it later," Mr Satanovsky said
