Vahagn Khachaturyan ready to be "president of all Armenians" 

ArmInfo.Armenia's Parliament is discussing the election of Armenia's president. 

Armenian presidential candidate Vahagn Khachaturyan is giving  assurances that, if elected, he will be president of all Armenian  citizens.

In response to a question by an MP of the ruling Civil Contract  party, he said:

I am sure you do not want me to be your president alone. Be sure I do  not want it either. Under the Constitution, I must be the president  of all people. The president of the Republic of Armenia is also an  institution dealing with national problems. And I am going to act as  such. Moreover, you may have nominated me for the position taking  this fact into account. And it is most important for our divided  society in a hard socio-economic situation that the institute of  presidency work effectively," Mr Khachuryan said.  

He stressed that the institute will not be effective without  cooperating with the Parliament, Government, society, political  forces and NGOs.  

The opposition parliamentary factions boycotted the discussions.
