ArmInfo. The Armenian government has allocated 78 million drams (about $162,000) to host the European Boxing Championship, which will be held on May 21-31 in Yerevan.
As Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic Vahram Dumanyan said at a government meeting, about 280 athletes from more than 40 countries of the world are expected to participate. The allocated 77 million 768 thousand drams will be used to purchase two new rings, 12 pears and several hundred gloves, and to provide reception for participants and guests of the competition.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the budget will not be limited to this - additional funds will be allocated for the championship.
In turn, Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan reminded that on June 1-3 Armenia will host another major international event - the summit of the UN World Tourism Organization. The event will be held not in Yerevan, but in the Black Fortress in Gyumri to show our guests Armenia outside of Yerevan. In addition, the international astronomical festival Starmus is planned to be held in Yerevan in September, which will be attended by six Nobel laureates, during the year they would like to invite Nobel laureate in biology Ardem Patapoutian to Armenia.
