ArmInfo.Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan held a meeting with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar, who is in Yerevan. The meeting was also attended by head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Armenia Andrea Wiktorin.
According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Defense, Papikyan thanked the leadership of the European Union and personally Klaar for the active efforts to repatriate the Armenian prisoners of war held by Azerbaijan, and presented the situation in Artsakh and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
Klaar, in turn, noted that the European Union is ready to contribute to the final settlement of the (Nagorno- Karabakh, ed. note) conflict and stabilization of the situation, intensifying negotiations in various formats. He also added that the EU will continue to work in the humanitarian field, in particular, on the return of prisoners of war, other detainees and missing persons.
At the meeting, the parties also touched upon other issues related to regional security.
Iast week, with the assistance of the EU and the President of France, Azerbaijan handed over another 8 prisoners of war to Armenia.
