Most Turks against rapprochement with Armenia

ArmInfo. In January 2021, Turkish Kadir Has University published a research report "Turkey: Trends 2020" based on the polls. Surveys referring to the social-  economic and political fields of Turkey, were conducted in 26 Turkish  provinces, among 1000 people aged 18 and above. Let's refer to the  results of foreign policy surveys.

In the section on foreign policy issues of the study, to the question  with which countries Turkey should cooperate more closely in its  foreign policy, 19,5% of the respondents answered with the  Turkic-speaking countries, 18,4% answered with Muslim countries,  11,3% with Russia, 10,8% with the USA, 10,6 with NATO countries,  10,2% answered that Turkey should work alone and 9,8% answered with  the EU countries.In total, 46,5% of the respondents believes that  foreign policy of Turkish government is successful.

To the question, whether NATO membership is vital for Turkeyin the  current international context, 48% of the respondents gave a positive  answer. It's noteworthy that 48,8% of the respondents were against  and 31,3% were for Turkey's military presence or the creation of  military bases abroad. 45% of those participating in the surveys are  against Turkey's cross-border military operations, 38,2% are for.

The study also presents countries that pose a threat and those  friendly (or allied) to Turkey's security.  Hence, to the  question"What do you think, whether these countries pose a threat to  Turkey?", the top 5enemy states appeared to beUnited States, then  Israel, Armenia, France, Great Britain.  According to the  respondents, the allied or friendly countries of Turkey are  Azerbaijan, the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,  Georgia, Uzbekistan, Qatar and so on. 

Among other questions asked to Turkish respondents include what  political views they have. The answers to this question are  distributed as follows: 25,7% are conservative, 22% nationalist (more  close to the Pan- Turkists), 13,9% social-democrat, 10,3% are the  supporters of Kemalism, 8,9% are the supporters of political Islam,  5,9% are apolitical and 4.3% are socialist/communist.
