ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan is convinced that the statements of head of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko were aimed at serving the internal political agenda of the President of Belarus. Mirzoyan stated this on February 9 during the government hour in the National Assembly.
"I would like to confirm once again that it is not the first time that the unique geopolitical analyzes and comments of Mr. Lukashenko attract the attention of various international partners, are discussed in different countries, including in our country. We are firmly convinced that these statements were aimed at serving the domestic political agenda of the President of Belarus. You can be sure that this has nothing to do with Armenia's foreign policy agenda," Mirzoyan said.
He also confirmed the information that the Belarusian Ambassador to Armenia was indeed invited to the Foreign Ministry. "Our convictions were conveyed to the Ambassador that our statements about each other should be based on mutual respect, each other's interests, each other's sovereignty, as well as on the legal and other field on which cooperation between our countries. Nevertheless, we are ready to continue to support Belarus as much as possible on various international platforms in the presence of official applications," he said.
Mirzoyan stressed that the two countries have a fairly rich legal base, and cooperation is built on this basis. The head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry also noted that these relations are based on the traditional friendship of the two peoples, expressing the hope that the statements at the highest level will continue to correspond to the assessments he mentioned and the indicated environment.
Ealier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in an interview with Russian TV journalist Vladimir Solovyov , referring to the likely members of an allied state expressed confidence that the new union will consist of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and, if the right policy is pursued, Ukraine. At the same time, speaking about Armenia, the Belarusian leader used quite incorrect turns. "Well, Armenia has nowhere to go. Do you think anyone needs them? They have seen. Nikol [Pashinyan] has seen it," Lukashenko said, referring to the fact that not a single state, except Russia, has reacted to Azerbaijan's aggression. Such an attitude on the part of an ally in the EAEU and the CSTO of Belarus towards Armenia caused a flurry of criticism in the Armenian society. The Armenian Foreign Ministry commented on such a statement of the Belarusian leader as follows: "We are convinced that the unique geopolitical analyzes of the President of Belarus are intended to serve, first of all, his own domestic political agenda and have nothing to do with Armenia and its foreign policy." On February 8, press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Vahan Hunanyan said that the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Republic of Armenia Alexander Konyuk visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. However, the country's Foreign Ministry did not give any details about the meeting and the reasons for the visit of the Belarusian diplomat to the RA Foreign Ministry The diplomatic term "summoned" was not used either
