ArmInfo.Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Republic of Armenia Alexander Konyuk visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia today. Press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Vahan Hunanyan announced this.
However, the country's Foreign Ministry did not provide any details about the meeting and the reasons for the visit of the Belarusian diplomat to the RA MFA. The diplomatic term <summoned> was not used either.
Earlier, yesterday, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in an interview with Russian TV journalist Vladimir Solovyov , referring to the likely members of an allied state expressed confidence that the new union will consist of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and, if the right policy is pursued, Ukraine. At the same time, speaking about Armenia, the Belarusian leader used quite incorrect turns. "Well, Armenia has nowhere to go. Do you think anyone needs them? They have seen. Nikol [Pashinyan] has seen it," Lukashenko said, referring to the fact that not a single state, except Russia, has reacted to Azerbaijan's aggression. Such an attitude on the part of an ally in the EAEU and the CSTO of Belarus towards Armenia caused a flurry of criticism in the Armenian society.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry commented on such a statement of the Belarusian leader as follows: "We are convinced that unique geopolitical analyzes of the President of Belarus are intended to serve, first of all, his own domestic political agenda and have nothing to do with Armenia and its foreign policy."
