ArmInfo. Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh have visited the Dadivank complex.
Priest Hovhannes Hovhannisian told the Russian peacekeepers about the history of the monastery, which dates back to the twelfth and thirteen centuries.
"We have seen how much people valued it. After coming home we will tell our children and grandchildren abut this place," said Yuri Romanishin of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
The Dadivank monastery is one of the largest in medieval Armenia. The monastery is said to have been founded by St. Dadi, a disciple of Thaddeus the Apostle who spread Christianity in Eastern Armenia during the first century AD.
Since Azerbaijan established control of the Karvachar district Armenians have not been able to visit the monastery.
Russian peacekeepers are conducting round-the-clock monitoring of the ceasefire.
