ArmInfo.The Armenian government is preparing for an intensification of the wave of the epidemic, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on February 3 during a government meeting.
According to him, the number of daily cases of infection is constantly growing, today, in particular, 4388 new cases of infection have been registered. Currently, 1,543 citizens have been hospitalized, of which 256 or 16.6% have been vaccinated. "In other words, the significant impact of vaccination on the process is obvious," the prime minister said, adding that the wave of coronavirus will intensify again within a week and the government is taking measures to counter this. "We have some algorithms, but there is hope that the numbers will not be higher than we expected," Pashinyan said.
The Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, in her turn, added that 4% of the positive cases a day need to be hospitalized, and according to the plan the healthcare system is expanding the number of hospital beds. "Currently, the system is intensively working on the proper organization of infection prevention among our population, the provision of medical care," Avanesyan said.
The Minister noted that the vaccination process continues. Currently, 46.3% of the adult population of the country received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and 37% received both doses.
Nikol Pashinyan considered the level of vaccination very low, noting that it is necessary to take measures to increase the number of vaccinations. The Prime Minister urged to think about how to "motivate" non- working citizens to get vaccinated.
