ArmInfo.The overwhelming majority of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia consider the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict important for the future of Armenia. This is evidenced by the results of a sociological study conducted by the American International Republican Institute (IRI), which was conducted in Armenia from November 22 to December 5, 2021. The level of statistical error of the study, which covered 1512 respondents across the country, is +/- 2.5%.
So, when asked how important, in your opinion, the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is for the future of Armenia in the context of the next 10 years, 82% of respondents noted - extremely important, 14% - very important, 1% - rather unimportant, 2% - not important and 2 % found it difficult to answer.
At the same time, 35% of the respondents considered the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent state an acceptable option for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict ; 34% were in favor of the unification of Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia; 16% - granting autonomy to Artsakh within Armenia, another 11% spoke in favor of establishing the status of Nagorno-Karabakh within Russia. ; It is noteworthy that 25% of citizens believe that Armenia should start the process of demarcation and delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan only after the final resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan. 16% believe that only when the armed forces of Armenia will be restored. Another 16% believe that this is currently not in the interests of Armenia and Artsakh. At the same time, 15% of respondents believe that this process should be started as soon as possible.
