ArmInfo. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a decision on Thursday relieving Kristine Grigoryan of the post of First Deputy Minister of Justice.
On December 17, the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, RA Parliament, approved Ms Grigoryan's candidacy for the post of RA Human Rights Defender. The dominant faction Civil Contract proposed her candidacy as the term of the incumbent Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan expires on February 23, 2002.
Vladimir Vardanyan of the Civil Contract faction stated that Ms Grigoryan is both a lawyer and orientalist. She has 12-year experience in government agencies.
"As deputy minister of justice her main duty was international cooperation, particularly what concerns Armenia's honoring its international human rights commitments," he said.
