ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried noted the need to fully restore work in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. The parties announced this during a telephone conversation.
In this context, the interlocutors stressed the importance of a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. The parties also referred to the humanitarian issues that require urgent solution.
It is reported that Minister Mirzoyan attached importance to the statement by the US State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs on the release of prisoners of war, clarification of the fate of the missing persons, exchange of remains.
The minister also reported on violations of the ceasefire regime in recent days by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and noted in this vein the need to take steps to defuse the situation.
The parties touched upon the process of restoring the dialogue between Armenia and Turkey, the position of Armenia regarding the current situation in Kazakhstan and other issues on regional and international security.
Mirzoyan and Donfried congratulated each other on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of the development of the Armenian-American dialogue based on common values: democracy, rule of law, protection of human rights
