ArmInfo.The "Armenia" (Hayastan) parliamentary faction of the oppositional bloc appealed to chairman of the standing parliamentary committee on defense and security, MP from the ruling Civil Contract party Andranik Kocharyan and chairman of the standing parliamentary committee on foreign relations, MP from the ruling party Eduard Aghajanian with a proposal to convene a joint meeting of the committees.
According to the bloc, the purpose of convening the meeting is to discuss the issue of ensuring proper parliamentary oversight over the activities of the Armenian peacekeeping contingent sent to Kazakhstan. In particular, regarding the implementation of part 5 of article 5 and paragraph 1, part 1, article 7 of part of the law "On Defense", as well as other requirements established by current legislation.
It should be noted that Armenia sent 100 servicemen of the RA Armed Forces as part of the CSTO peacekeeping contingent to Kazakhstan to stabilize the situation in the union state. The CSTO peacekeepers fully deployed in Kazakhstan on January 9, and will provide protection of objects of state importance until the crisis is completely resolved.
