ArmInfo. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on the resignation of the government, Tengrinews.kz reports.
"In accordance with Article 70 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I decide:
1. Accept the resignation of the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
2. Temporarily assign the duties of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Smailov Alikhan Askhanovich;
3. Members of the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to continue to fulfill their duties until the approval of the new composition of the government, "says the decree published on the Akorda website.
Earlier, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev appealed to the people of Kazakhstan in connection with the current situation in the country. The head of state called on the people not to succumb to provocations and to resolve all issues in the format of a peaceful dialogue.
A state of emergency has been declared in Mangistau and Almaty, as well as from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am there will be a curfew in Almaty and the Mangistau region.
On January 2, residents of Zhanaozen took to the streets demanding to lower prices for liquefied gas. Later, actions were also recorded on the streets of Aktau. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reacted to the situation and instructed the government to urgently consider the situation in Zhanaozen, taking into account the economic feasibility in the legal field.
On January 4, at the meeting, the decisions made in the course of negotiations with the Aktau initiative group were announced, namely, on reducing the cost of liquefied gas and setting the price at 50 tenge per liter in the Mangistau region within the framework of the social responsibility of KazMunayGas NC JSC. Also on January 4, it became known that the Akimat of Aktobe complied with the demands of residents - it lowered gas prices to 50 tenge per liter and released all the detained demonstrators from custody. On January 5, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will hold a working meeting with members of government, employees of their administration and representatives of other interested bodies on the socio- economic situation in the country.
