ArmInfo. After a recent interview with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, it is time to say publicly, and not only in narrow expert circles: the division of Armenia into Western and Eastern in the 21st century can be considered practically formalized. Eastern Armenia is built on the basis of Artsakh and Syunik, under the supervision of the Russian Federation, Western Armenia of the 21st century on the remnants of the Armenian SSR under the supervision of the West.
Artsakh security expert, former adviser to the Artsakh Foreign Minister Hrachya Arzumanyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
He noted that Armenia could overcome the split and achieve a small "Miatsum" as a result of the Artsakh stage of the national liberation movement, when the Armenian people were able to accept in 1990 the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the reunification of Artsakh and Armenia. However, already in 1991-1992 the Armenian authorities in Yerevan agreed to join international organizations (CIS, OSCE, UN) within the borders of the Armenian SSR, not even bothering themselves with a statement about the presence of the "Nagorno-Karabakh problem." In 1995, the Armenian authorities finally formalized the split within the Armenian statehood by adopting a Constitution without Artsakh.
As Arzumanyan emphasized, in 2020-2021, the Armenian authorities in Yerevan intend to formalize the split in the international arena by transferring security guarantees of Artsakh and then Syunik (I am sure of this) to the Russian Federation. Thus, the centers of power and the Armenian authorities return us to the to policy of splits that is painful for Armenia, when we will again have to pose and solve the problem of uniting the Armenian people on the territory of Historical Armenia within the framework of one state.
