ArmInfo. Tigran Abrahamyan of the With Honor opposition parliamentary faction is sure that Armenian Premier Nikol Pashinyan`s high-profile statements are aimed at removal of the incumbent president of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Arayik Harutyunyan.
According to him, the key feature of premier`s press conference is that it is being accompanied by clear actions aimed to change the domestic political spectrum in Artsakh.
"Public attention is understandably focused on Nikol Pashinyan`s pro-Azerbaijani propaganda accents and his presenting the topic from the point of view of Azerbaijan. But his main goal is the removal of the incumbent Artsakh president. The problem is not Arayik Harutyunyan himself. Pahsinyan is well aware that a new presidential election in Artsakh is practically impossible now, so he has launched a backstage process to remove Harutyunyan," the MP said.
For Pashinyan, the launched process and ensuring a vacant presidential post is the shortest and last step to strip Artsakh of its last component, namely, separate personality.
"Some of the tumultuous processes in Artsakh can be seen by the public and large, and I hope the Artsakh political forces will in the next few days start speaking of it. Amid the active opposition on the part of the healthy forces in Artsakh, the first stage of the Pashinyan-initiated political reshuffle failed. And we have entered a period of political consultations aimed an ensuring political stability in Artsakh. "'External' motives account for Pashinyan`s actions in Artsakh as well. They are capable of adjusting regional reshuffles. However, this scenario must be failing now.
"Pashinyan`s 'internal' motives are disclaiming the responsibility for the Artsakh problem in exchange for compromise on other issues from Turkey and Azerbaijan," Mr Abrahamyan said.
According to him, since 2018 the Artsakh president has made numerous mistakes and bears great responsibility in different processes. However, public activists, people concerned over the destiny of Artsakh and Armenia must focus their attention on the attacks against Artsakh, and the cause is not Arayik Harutyunyan, but a loss of Artsakh`s separate personality.
